The Sologic e-Tree is an outstanding example of engineering inventiveness!
The engineers working at Sologic, an Israeli start-up, looked to nature for inspiration in creating a local energy and connectivity hub which they have called the e-Tree.
The e-Tree is an ecological sculpture featuring solar panels on its branches that provides shade and several services.
First among these is naturally green energy – around 7kW/day for free wi-fi , a smart-phone/tablet docking station and various other electrical uses, as well as for night-time lighting.
It also provides cold drinking water, even in the middle of the desert, using an air condensation process.
And last but not least, it has a social function as a shady hangout spot and virtual meeting point, thanks notably to the small LCD screen in the trunk of each tree that connects up to all the other e-Trees around the world.
