More than half of the world’s population now live in cities and the proportion is set to increase in coming years.

This has many different consequences, not least of which is the fact that it takes young people longer and longer to become homeowners, due to the massive increase in urban property prices.

What’s the solution, when you can’t afford to buy and don’t have the time or skill to self-build? Renato Vidal, an Italian architect, decided to do something for this generation of renters. With M.a.DI, this ground-breaking architect proposes a foldable, modular and customizable house that takes less than a day to erect.

The house is delivered in a flat-pack.
This makes it much easier to transport and enables it to be put up just about anywhere. The pre-fabricated house is unfolded on site, in a process that is a tribute to the engineers’ talent.

Several models are available, at unbeatable prices ranging from €27,000 to €46,000 depending on size and the quality of the fittings.
