As our reputation for proficient delivery of complex projects grows stronger, we have a requirement for a Development Engineer to join our team in Derby.

Development Engineer – Turbine Island

 

The Role:

As our Development Engineer you will be primarily responsible for derivation and management of Verification Plans for specific areas of the power station design.  You will have existing expertise in the verification of requirements related to nuclear power station systems. 

 

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Defining and managing power station wide verification plans (setting out the approach to validation and verification for systems and components which are then discharged through a defined process i.e. analysis, analogy, demonstration, inspection, commissioning and operations).
  • Defining experimental and other verification requirements.
  • Collation of verification evidence.
  • Understand and meet the expectations of the regulatory body for admissible verification data.
  • Develop robust plans for the execution of verification plans.
  • Apply technical expertise to act as an Intelligent Customer for methods of validation.
  • Understand the nature of the risks applicable to verification plans and make decisions in accordance with this understanding and the programme risk profile; clearly articulating the risks and managing as appropriate.

Profile

Your Background:

Ideally you will be: -

  • Qualified to degree level or equivalent in an engineering or related discipline.
  • Professionally recognised through an appropriate professional body with design / verification experience including responsibility for delivery of technical work packages.
  • Excellent knowledge of power station systems.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant design codes and standards.
  • Experience in the interpretation of customer requirements and defining and managing the engineering requirements for development engineering.
  • Proven technical skills in the delivery of work packages to time, cost and quality.
  • Experience of trade-off studies to ensure optimum verification methods are selected.
  • Excellent planning and organising skills to manage all programme activities and deliverables.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with any audience, quickly establishing credibility and buy-in.

Security clearance:

Due to the nature of work to be undertaken applicants will be required to meet certain residency criteria in order to attain a minimum level of UK security clearance if not already security cleared to a minimum SC level.
