Job Description

On behalf of Rolls Royce, Assystem Energy & Infrastructure are recruiting for a number of Lab Technicians to work at the Rolls Royce site in Derby on a 12-month contract basis within the nuclear industry  
   
Role details:   
Role title – Lab Technician  
Contract duration – 12 months   
Contract type – PAYE via Umbrella – INSIDE IR35  
Hours – 37 hours, Split between Nights, Afters + Days (overtime achievable)  
Location – Rolls Royce (Raynesway) 
   
Key accountabilities will include:   

  • Preparation of metallurgical specimens for examination. Use cutting, mounting, grinding and polishing equipment. Prepare and use etching chemicals.
  • Perform routine examination and testing of metallurgical specimens. Record and report results.
  • Undertake responsibilities to assist with the organization and housekeeping of the laboratory.
  • Work across multi laboratory locations on sit
  • Expected to work some overtime and work shift pattern as required by the business. 

Profile

Skills and experience required for this role:   

  • Computer literate- MS Windows and MS Office packages.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding and following procedures and work instructions; compliance to Health and Safety.
  • Basic metallurgical knowledge. Previous laboratory experience with use of chemicals and specimen preparation.
  • Diploma or above in an Engineering or materials discipline desirable.
  • At least 1 year in a lab environment
  • Basic Engineering/ Materials Work Experience 1 years
  • Worked in a Nuclear Licencsed facility (desirable)
