Description du Poste

Assystem are recruiting for a Senior / EC & I Engineers  join our expanding team on a permanent basis working on projects within the Marine/Nuclear sector.

Role Details:

Job title: EC& I Engineer (Senior and Engineer level positions available)

Location: UK – Any local Assystem office

Hours: 37 hours

The duties of the role will involve:

Knowledge, Experience and Skill

A Senior EC&I Engineer is expected to undertake a wide variety of tasks. These include aspects of the technical elements of projects, including the following activities:

  • Clarify and agree project requirements at all levels
  • Work closely with the project team to achieve agreed milestones
  • Working autonomously with the capability to lead a team of designers and engineers in the delivery of significant size work packages
  • Produce technical solutions from customer requirements and initial concepts and lead activities necessary to provide optimal design solutions to the project
  • Keep abreast of latest developments in the engineering arena especially with respect to the latest developments in technologies and techniques
  • Produce project deliverables in accordance with project requirements, current best practice and to the relevant standards and procedures
  • Adhere to all company and statutory H&S policies, rules, regulations and laws
  • Adhere to the company Quality Management System (QMS), contribute to the development of the QMS and proactively enforce and monitor team compliance to the QMS.
  • Assist with the preparation of estimates for projects or proposals


Essential skills Required

In order to fulfil this role the following skills are essential:

  • An awareness of how the EC&I aspects fit within a complex project environment, combined with a depth of knowledge within particular areas.
  • A demonstrable track record of delivery and expertise in at least one of the core EC&I specialisations, and general experience across the whole discipline
  • Experience with nuclear safety cases, and the classification of Structures, Systems and Components.
  • Experience in the design development and substantiation of Safety Instrumented System systems in accordance with recognised Functional Safety Standards.
  • The capability to deliver design solutions to the required standards, in the required timescales, supported by appropriate documentation.
  • An awareness of project life cycle management, through all its phases.
  • A commercial awareness of project management to support technical knowledge.

Highly Desirable

  • Knowledge and understanding of safety systems and specifications including the appropriate legislation, standards and directives and the management of appropriate activities such as FMECA, HAZOP, HAZID.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems design, including calculations and EMC assessment.
  • An understanding of control system design phases such as V cycle, design validation and verifications and version management
  • Experience of software/hardware/embedded programming for machinery and process plant control
  • Experience of designing/leading control systems packages
  • Demonstrable and sound technical knowledge of theoretical and practical design aspects of control system designs
  • Knowledge of instrumentation techniques, including signal processing and conversions, and calibration techniques.
  • Experience with obsolescence management
  • Experience with plant and documentation configuration management.
  • Experience in compliance with ONR License Conditions
  • Nuclear experience ideally with exposure to blue chip company processes and procedures.
  • Experienced in the use of AMTECH ProDesign.
  • Experience working within BIM enabled projects
  • Previous experience working on large scale multi-discipline design projects (in particular, nuclear process plants)
  • Willingness and ability to spend short periods of time on customer and supplier sites at various locations.
  • Preparation of estimates and tender responses.

Qualifications and Affiliations:

  • Minimum qualification for this role is HNC in electrical engineering or equivalent qualification with a high emphasis on electrical engineering
  • Preferred qualification for this role is HND in electrical engineering or equivalent qualification with a high emphasis on electrical engineering
  • Incorporated Engineer or working towards Chartership status
  • Member of a recognised institute (IET, INSTMC)

Security clearance:
This role requires the successful candidate to hold a minimum of a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance
