Description du Poste

Assystem Energy & Infrastructure are recruiting for a number of Welders to work at our customer's site in Derby as well as travel to sites in Plymouth and Scotland on a contract basis.

As a Welder, you will provide practical support to the welding development projects and support the shop floor to ensure uninterrupted production.


Role details:

  • Location: Derby with travel to Plymouth and Scotland

  • Hours: 37 hours, Split between Nights, Afters + Days (overtime achievable)  
  • Contract type: PAYE via Umbrella solution

You will be involved with the welding of a range of materials using various manual and mechanised welding processes including. 

Manual Metal Arc (MMA) 
Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) 
Sub merged arc welding
Mechanised TIG welding 


What we are ideally looking for in applications:

  • Experience from an engineering background familiar with the nuclear industry is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of welding processes as related to manufacturing and engineering activities and a strong understanding of quality and process control with respect to welding.
  • Experience within Power beam fusion technology, Laser welding and cladding, TIG technology both manual and automatic, Laser Depth Dynamics and Cold Metal Transfer would be advantageous.
  • Problem-solving and Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA) experience.
  • Good communication skills and able to interact with people at all levels within the business and appropriate level of IT skill.
  • An IIW EWE/ Welding diploma/ MSc in welding or similar IEng or CEng status is preferable.
